In 2003, Melissa suffered a fracture to a pelvis, which was diagnosed at the time of occurrence as a pulled muscle. She was instructed to continue to work, walk, stretch and take ibuprofen. Her pain began to move from her pelvis to her back and neck. She returned to the doctor and was sent to physical therapy. In therapy she was instructed to stretch the tight pelvic muscles. Her pain became so intolerable that she felt like her airway was closing off due to the muscles in her neck in spasm from supporting a broken pelvis. She returned back to the doctor due to the fact she thought she had something terminal. At that time, a bone scan was performed and the fractured pelvis was seen. She was then taken off of her feet, after walking on the fractured pelvis for one month. Her physical body began to fall apart. She was in chronic pain from herniated discs in her back and compensation patterns she had developed while walking on a fractured bone.
